What I Learnt From The 48 Laws of Power Book Review: Law 1.
Making my masters appear more brilliant than they are and I will attain the heights of power. Hmmm I like that.
Chapter one started with a great story to learn from. It was about a finance minister in the first years of his reign, who was a generous man who loved money, lavish parties, pretty women, and poetry. He was running out of favor with the king and decided to host a party to pay tribute to the king.
His arrogance and pride ruined his plan because he forgot the main purpose of hosting the party and he displayed how wealthy he was in front of the King. The king then used it as an opportunity to conveniently get rid himself of a man who had inadvertently made him feel insecure.
This is why one should never unbalance the master’s sense of self, poke holes in his vanity, or make him doubt his pre-eminence.
Today, most people get lost in their desires to always show themselves, how wealthy they are, their self-worth and all. Dont get me wrong, you can do this but not in front of your masters.
All masters want to appear more brilliant than other people. They don't care about anything other than their name and their glory. By making them shine brilliantly among Others.
